  • Dr Nicholas Aroney

    BSc(Hons), MBBS(Hons), FRACP

    Interventional Cardiologist & TAVI Specialist

    Nick is a Queensland born, bred and educated General and Interventional Cardiologist.

    Nick achieved First Class Honours in his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from Griffith University. He achieved a Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians in Adult Cardiology after appointments at the Royal Brisbane and Prince Charles Hospitals. Following this, he performed a two year coronary and structural fellowship at The Prince Charles Hospital. In 2020-21, Nick was the Structural Heart Fellow at St Thomas’ Hospital, London, United Kingdom, a worldwide centre of excellence in TAVI, adult structural and adult congenital heart procedures.

    Nick’s main interests are general and interventional cardiology, transcatheter valvular intervention and cardiac 3D modelling. He has published manuscripts and abstracts in peer-reviewed journals and presents regularly at national and international conferences.

    Nick performs procedures including; percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI / stenting), transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) and adult congenital interventions (PFO, ASD).

  • Dr Michelle Butler

    Imaging Cardiologist

    Dr Michelle Butler is a cardiologist and cardiac imaging specialist. Dr Butler’s clinical interests are wide and include management of heart failure, valvular heart disease, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, aortopathies and management of cardiac conditions during pregnancy.

    Dr Butler is born and bred in Brisbane but moved interstate after completing secondary school to undertake undergraduate medicine at the University of Melbourne and St Vincent’s Hospital Clinical School. After university, she went on to complete her residency at St Vincent’s Hospital, Melbourne, followed by advanced cardiology training at The Alfred Hospital, Melbourne. Dr Butler then pursued subspecialty training in non-invasive cardiac imaging, completing an imaging fellowship at The Alfred Hospital which encompassed all aspects of echocardiography (transthoracic, transoesphageal and stress echo) as well as training in cardiac MRI and cardiac CT. She has also been involved in cardiac magnetic resonance research. Dr Bulter worked in Perth for a short period of time before relocating to her hometown, Brisbane.

    Dr Butler consults outpatients at the East Brisbane (Didsbury St) suites and cares for cardiac inpatients and provides a cardiac consultation service at the Mater Private Hospital and Mater Mothers Private Hospital in South Brisbane.

    In her spare time, Michelle is found on the sidelines of the soccer field cheering for her 4 young boys.

    Dr Terri Hall

    BSc, MBBS (Hons), FRACP

    Cardiovascular Imaging Specialist

    Special clinical interests in 3D imaging techniques, transthoracic, stress and transoesophageal echocardiography, heart failure, valvular heart disease and obstetric cardiology 

    Dr Hall is a cardiovascular imaging specialist.  She is an Honours Graduate of the University of Queensland Medical School and is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in Cardiology. She completed her advanced training in Cardiology at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane. Subsequent to this, Dr Hall underwent a further two years of fellowship training dedicated to Advanced Echocardiography.  Her first year of fellowship was completed at the Princess Alexandra Hospital. Dr Hall then travelled to Canada for a second year of cardiac imaging training through the McMaster University Health Service in Hamilton, Ontario. 

    Through her two fellowships, Dr Hall has obtained extensive experience in transthoracic, stress and transoesophageal echocardiogram as well as 3D imaging techniques.  Dr Hall has been involved in research related to cardiac imaging and heart failure. Her special interests are heart failure and valvular heart disease but she manages all aspects of general cardiology.

    Dr Hall will consult at our rooms in East Brisbane and see inpatients at the Mater Private Hospital, South Brisbane.

  • Dr Stephen Kyranis

    MBBS, FRACP, MClinEpi

    Interventional Cardiologist

    Stephen is a Senior Staff Specialist at the Royal Brisbane and Woman's Hospital. He is a General and Interventional Cardiologist admitting patients to the Mater Private Hospital, Royal Brisbane and Woman's Hospital and St Vincent's Northside Hospital.

    Stephen completed his Cardiology training at The Prince Charles Hospital and then embarked on further fellowship training in both Australia and overseas. After completing a further year as an Interventional Cardiology fellow, he undertook an overseas Interventional and Structural Cardiology fellowship at Royal Papworth Hospital in Cambridge, United Kingdom. He continued at Royal Papworth Hospital as a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist before returning to Brisbane in 2020.

    Stephen prioritises patient centred care aimed at respecting your specific health needs while prioritising your goals and values. He prides himself as an excellent communicator and believes in a collaboration involving you as the patient in the decision-making process when planning care and treatment. He looks forward to designing and managing a customized and comprehensive care plan that involves you as the patient, your General practitioner and health care team.
